George Washington Alumni Association (GWAA) Grant

Eligibility: All undergraduate students, student organizations, and alumni

GWAA grants provide supplemental funding to support specific programs sponsored by GW-affiliated alumni organizations and other student groups. The focus of these programs must be consistent with the overall mission of the GWAA and align with GWAA’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.  Apply for a grant.

Innovation Task Force Student Scholarship Competition

Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students

The Innovation Task Force calls upon students to come up with innovative ideas that will reduce net costs or generate new, net revenues of $1,000,000 or more annually for the university. Not only can your idea be implemented at GW, you can win a scholarship of up to $50,000 for continued studies at the university.

The competition provides an opportunity for students to change the innovation landscape at GW. Submit your ideas!

Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion Grants Program

Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students

As part of the university’s efforts to create an educational and work environment that is inclusive, supportive, and rich in diversity, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion is proud to host the Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion (IDI) Grants Program. This internal grant program is an opportunity for students to apply for funding to support innovative ideas that advance GW’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Academic Year Fellowship

Eligibility: Graduate (Ph.D. and Master's candidates) and professional (J.D. and M.D.) students

The FLAS Fellowship Program helps graduate and professional students further language study and area/international studies. Learn more about FLAS.

CCAS Dean's Travel Grants

Eligibility: Good academic standing in a CCAS graduate degree program

Recognizing the vital importance of travel to our graduate students’ professional development, the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce CCAS Dean's Graduate Travel Grants. These grants provide reimbursement of certain expenses for students who need to travel outside the DC metro area, either to conduct summer research (e.g., fieldwork, archival research, subject interviews, etc.) or to deliver a paper, presentation, exhibition, or performance at a professional conference.  CCAS will offer up to thirty grants annually, at least ten of which will be Summer Research Travel Grants and the remainder, Conference Travel Grants. Dr. Robert A. Chernak Opportunity Fund for Student Engagement

Eligibility: Student organizations

Thanks to the generous donations of alumni, families, and friends, the Dr. Robert A. Chernak Opportunity Fund for Student Engagement supports the diverse efforts and interests of student organizations to pursue and create opportunities that come their way, much as Dr. Chernak did over the course of his tenure at the university.  Chernak Opportunity Fund awards are available up to $300 per program or project, with each student organization eligible to receive one award per calendar year.
