Staff Training

The staff training team has worked to develop a comprehensive workshop and resource program designed for staff members in the Division of Student Affairs. This program is meant to provide opportunities for staff to increase their knowledge and skill base around different assessment topics that will support them in their position at the university.

DSA Division-wide Forum

In November 2013, the staff training team coordinated and facilitated a division-wide forum, which focused on a divisional assessment charge, as well as provided information on next steps the committee is taking to strengthen the culture of assessment within DSA. It featured presentations from Cheryl Beil, Associate Provost for Academic Planning & Assessment, Peter Konwerski, Vice Provost & Dean of Student Affairs, as well as small break-out presentations from the DSA Assessment Committee on topics including learning outcomes, population sampling, GW data, a case study for Gelman Library and dashboards.  The Forum formally provided DSA staff an overview of assessment opportunities for the division and departments.

Assessment Web Presence

The staff training team provides resources for DSA staff members by maintaining these assessment web pages. Here you will find up-to-date information like national assessment webinars and other educational resources, DSA survey outcomes, and DSA assessment committee progress.

Assessment Workshop Calendar

The DSA staff training team hosts and facilitates monthly assessment workshop series to provide learning opportunities on a variety of assessment topics. These workshops are presented by members of the Assessment Committee as well as colleagues throughout the university who specialize in those fields. To date, the workshops have been well attended by DSA staff members who have varying knowledge of assessment. All DSA staff members are encouraged to join one of the upcoming sessions!
