CARE Team

At GW, we aim to create a community that cares for each other. The CARE Team fosters this goal by creating a pathway through which students who may need additional support can be identified and referred to the most appropriate services. Through the CARE Team, students are given the support they need to persist and succeed at GW and beyond.

Mental Health Support

The Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team serves students and engages the entire GW community, working to build a culture of support and connection with student well-being.  We support mental health and personal development by collaborating directly with students to overcome challenges and difficulties that may interfere with academic, emotional, and personal success.

Psychiatric Treatment

The Student Health Center (SHC) provides short-term psychiatric treatment and referral services to GW students. Services are provided primarily by telemedicine. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who are actively enrolled in at least one course are eligible for psychiatric services. The psychiatrists and counselors in the SHC work closely together to provide mental health services for students.
