Sustainability on the Vern
The Mount Vernon Campus is located in a beautiful natural setting, which roots our community in environmental stewardship. Our partnerships with GW’s Alliance for a Sustainable Future and Office of Sustainability support a growing number of initiatives to promote sustainability on the Vern.
SUSTAINABILITY HIGHLIGHTS

Community Garden
The Community Garden on the Vern provides beauty to the campus as well as a bountiful harvest of vegetables and herbs. It's conveniently located on the hill outside Ames Hall.

Composting
Composting is available daily in Pelham Commons and weekly in the Community Garden.

The Loop
The Loop, located in the Academic Building 122, is GW’s free clothing exchange. It’s a thrift store and more with programming that connects the Vern community with events such as the Responsible Fashion Collective’s fashion show in Post Hall or a Tiny Dorm concert.
