We are excited to welcome you and your student to the GW community.
Your student will complete many important steps before starting classes. These initial next steps are included in your student’s admitted student portal where they located their Admission’s decision. Over the next couple of months, leading up to the start of the semester, your student will review the Buff & Blue Book, complete the Pre-Orientation Online Modules, and register for classes. We encourage you to check in with your student and discuss communication you both receive via email. Soon, we’ll be welcoming you for Move-In and New Student Orientation; until then, explore the options we offer new families to get you acquainted to GW and campus resources.
New for 2023, GW Family Connections is your one-stop shop for:
- Access to important campus news and deadlines
- Personalized newsletters on your schedule
- Announcements via email and text message
- Sharing of updates with friends and family
At GW, we create a community that cares for one another. The college experience can often be challenging, and asking for help can be difficult. The CARE Team reaches out to our students to offer support so that they can be as successful as possible from their first-year right through graduation.
Family philanthropy plays a crucial role in building and shaping an exemplary educational experience for GW students. Families support students through internships and career opportunities and through financial contributions that impact all areas of student life. An important aspect of family support at GW is the Family Leadership Circle, a group of parents and families who contribute philanthropic gifts and engage with our greater GW community.
