Provide Feedback on the Code of Student Conduct

April 11, 2025

Dear Members of the GW Community,

As the university continues to foster an environment that is safe, accountable and respectful for all, it is important to regularly assess the clarity and effectiveness of the behavioral standards we have set for interactions among our community members. For students, the primary document governing non-academic student behavior is the Code of Student Conduct.

The university is conducting a review of the Code in the coming months, and we are inviting members of the university community to provide feedback and questions about the current version of the Code beginning today through May 7, 2025.

Perspectives from students, faculty and staff provided during this initial public comment period will help inform the review process. This feedback is vital to helping us make recommendations for changes to the Code that reflect the various perspectives of our current student body and help improve the Code’s clarity, accessibility and inclusivity. Proposed revisions to the Code will undergo a policy review process next academic year that includes engagement with the Student Government Association, Faculty Senate and Staff Council. More information will be shared about the review process during the Fall 2025 semester.

Instructions for participation and additional details about the feedback being sought can be found on the Code review website. The engagement of community members is an important aspect of the Code review process. Thank you for your participation and collaboration as we aim to make the shared responsibilities of our community members clear and accessible for all.

Sincerely,

Colette Coleman
Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
