Campus Recreation Memberships
CURRENT STUDENTS
Access to the Lerner Health and Wellness Center is free for all GW students taking classes on the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses. Full-time students taking classes on the Virginia campuses also have free access. Students enrolled in online only course work do not have access to Lerner Health and Wellness Center.
All guests must bring and scan their GWorld card in order to enter Lerner Health and Wellness Center.

Payment Options
All memberships may be paid for by credit card upon sign up or via payroll deduction ('benefits-eligible' faculty and staff only - see details below). Cash or check payments are not accepted. Membership fee payments made by credit card will automatically renew monthly. You can cancel your membership at any time in your membership portal.
- Payroll Deduction
All 'benefits-eligible' faculty and staff of the university may pay for membership via payroll deduction. Please fill out the membership application below for payroll deduction. Your membership will be active as long as you remain a university employee or until you submit a Membership Termination web form to cancel. Membership rates are subject to increase periodically.
- Cancel Payroll Deduction Membership
To cancel your current payroll deduction membership, please fill out the payroll membership termination form below. This request will both go to the Manger for Membership and Client Services and the Payroll Department. The Manager for Membership and Client Services will reach out once complete, email [email protected] with any questions.
- Gratis Membership
University faculty and staff enrolled in coursework on the Foggy Bottom campus are eligible for complimentary, student access. Online and Virginia based coursework is not eligible due to zoning restrictions. Please contact the Membership Office with any questions.
- Trial Membership
We are making it even easier to commit to your wellbeing journey by giving faculty and staff a free, two-week membership trial period so you can come see how well a Lerner membership will fit into your day.
Send an email to [email protected] to start your trial. This trial is available for new members; prior or existing members are not eligible to enroll in a trial.
GW Alumni are eligible for membership at the Lerner Health and Wellness Center. New or interested Alumni members MUST first obtain an Alumni GWorld Card via the GWorld Card office ($10 first-time purchase fee). Once obtained, you may purchase your membership in DSE. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
Alumni MUST reside in the zip codes 20006 or 20037 to be eligible for membership.

New or interested members MUST first obtain a Friends of Foggy Bottom Card after providing proof of residency in the zip codes 20006 or 20037 ($15 first time purchase fee). Applicants must be full-time residents at the address of residency provided. No sub-leasers or part-time residencies will be accepted. Once your Friends of Foggy Bottom card is obtained, you may purchase your membership in DSE. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

District of Columbia Zoning Commission Order
Since GW’s Lerner Health and Wellness Center opened, the terms of the building’s use have been determined by conditions set by the Zoning Commission. Of note, the zoning commission order restricts alumni and community membership eligibility to individuals residing in the 20006 and 20037 zip codes.
