The Revolutionary Leadership Experience (RevX)
RevX provides intentional structure to the experiences many students naturally pursue as part of their time at GW. The program consists of targeted leadership development opportunities and integrated connections to real world leadership competencies.
Upon completion, students receive formal recognition of their accomplishments by earning a digital badge that is sharable to LinkedIn!

Competencies
- Self-Aware Leadership (SAL)
Focuses on values, strengths, identity, and how self-understanding shapes leadership. Know yourself.
- Foundational Tier: Identify at least one personal value, strength, or identity marker and articulate how it shapes the way they show up as a leader.
- Critical Thinking Leadership (CTL)
Develops analytical and ethical reasoning, perspective-taking, and informed decision-making. Think deeply.
- Foundational Tier: Describe an analytical or ethical framework and apply it to a real or hypothetical leadership challenge.
- Community Leadership (CML)
Connects leadership to equity, inclusion, service, and responsibility to others. Lead for change.
- Foundational Tier: Explain their role as a member of a broader community and connect at least one equity, inclusion, or justice concept to their own leadership.
- Interpersonal Leadership (IPL)
Builds communication, empathy, collaboration, and conflict navigation skills. Connect with others.
- Foundational Tier: Practice a communication or relationship-building skill and reflect on how it applies to working with others.
- Organizational Leadership (ORL)
Develops planning, goal-setting, team coordination, and execution skills. Make it happen.
- Foundational Tier: Describe at least one goal-setting or organizational skill and explain why it matters to their growth as a leader.
Your Leadership Journey
To earn your leadership badge, complete the following steps on your leadership journey:
Engage in Intercultural Dialogues
Attend an Intercultural or Constructive Dialogue session to gain important skills for navigating differing perspectives.
Participate in a Day of Service Event
Being a leader at GW requires that you also be an active member of the broader DC community.
Attend 8 RevX Events
Attend a RevX-tagged event to grow your leadership across the 5 competency areas. New events are added frequently so check back often!
Join a Student Org
There are over 600 Registered Student Organizations at GW. Explore them all on RevConnect!
Complete a Leadership Reflection
The final step to earning your badge is to reflect on your leadership journey.
Additional Options
Optional opportunities include participating in a Pre-Semester Program (LEAD GW or Founding Scholars) or attending LeaderShape Catalyst.
The Foundational Leader Badge
Upon completion of the RevX Foundational Leadership requirements, you will receive the RevX Foundational Leader digital badge. A digital badge is a microcredential that serves as official recognition of the specific skills and competencies you've gained through an educational experience. The RevX Foundational Leader Badge formally certifies your completion of core leadership checkpoints—including active community involvement, foundational workshops, and guided reflections
